How to set up Alternative user credentials for the Backup Portal

In addition to using your Microsoft 365 user credentials to sign in to the Backup Portal, you can also set up alternative user credentials to make sure that you can always access your (organization's) backups. This is recommended at least for the admins.

On Users page, click the Key icon 'Add alternative email' next to your own username.

Fill in the following fields:

  • Username to be used for alternate signing in. It can be any username and does not have to be an existing email.
  • Password. It is created for this service only, i.e. does not need to be the same as your email password.
  • Confirm the password

After clicking Save, you can sign out and use the Sign in with alternative email option on the Backup Portal login page to sign in with your newly-created user credentials. You will get the same access rights as you get when signing in with your Microsoft 365 account (admin / end-user).

NOTE: It is also recommended to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your alternative user credentials. Check the instruction from here
