2. Managing Data Selection

By default, all data on your workstation is backed up, except for e.g. system and program folders and the Windows folder. Additionally, your service provider may have pre-excluded certain folders or file types from the backup.

If you want to exclude additional data, follow these steps:

  • Click the gear wheel icon (see the image below).
  • The Exclusions window will appear.
  • Select the folders, content or file types you want to exclude from the backup.
  • Once you've finished making your selections, close the window to save the changes.

3. Restoring Your Data

If you need to restore your data at this stage, click the Restore button (see the image above). Once the restoration process is complete, click Next to proceed.

Tip: If you're transferring your existing account from your old workstation to a new one, it's best to restore all your data now.

4. Finalizing the Setup

Click Done to complete the setup. Your Nexetic Backup for Laptop client application is now successfully installed and ready to use.

5. First Backup Duration and Tips

Your first backup will take several hours—or even a full day—since it includes all your data. The total backup time depends on:

  • The overall size of your files
  • The sizes of individual files
  • Your internet connection speed

Note: Backing up many small files is generally slower than backing up fewer, larger files.

You can track the backup progress by checking the Remaining time indicator at the bottom of the window.

TIP: Optimizing the Initial Backup

  • Leave your computer powered on overnight to ensure uninterrupted backup.
  • If your internet disconnects during the process, no need to worry—the backup will automatically resume once your connection is restored.

6. Ongoing Backup Process

After the initial full backup, subsequent continuous or daily backups will take only a few minutes, as they only include data that has been modified.
