Client Settings

Adjusting Backup Settings

In the Settings menu, you can modify various aspects of your backup client. However, access to certain settings depends on user permissions:

  • Users with full rights can change all backup settings.
  • Users without full rights can only modify the language of their client.
  • User permissions are determined by your Service Provider / Support team.

1. Timing Options:

Under Timing, you have three backup frequency options:

  • Turn Off – Disables backups completely.
  • Continuous – Automatically backs up your data every few minutes (recommended).
  • Daily – Performs a backup once per day, with the option to set a specific time.

2. Customizing Backup Exclusions:

By default, all your files and folders are backed up, except for system and program folders and the Windows folder. Additionally, your service provider may have pre-excluded certain file types, such as compressed files, external drives, or binaries.

If you need to exclude additional files or folders from the backup:

  • Open the Exclusions menu.
  • Click except to view the currently excluded content types.
  • Use the Change button at the bottom-left to navigate through different options and modify exclusions. Checkboxes with red crosses indicate folders or file extensions that have been excluded from the backup.
  • Once you've finalized your selections, click Save and close the Exclusions window.

3. Changing Language and Advanced Settings:

In the Language menu, you can select your preferred language for the backup client. The available options are English, French, Swedish, Russian, and Finnish.

If you have full user rights, clicking Advanced Settings will allow you to modify additional backup configurations.

In the Bandwidth Selector, you can configure how much bandwidth is dedicated to the backup service.
- Higher bandwidth results in faster backups, ensuring your data is saved quickly.
- Lower bandwidth prioritizes network performance for other tasks, preventing backups from slowing down your internet connection.

First Backup Considerations:

  • When you first set up the backup client, all your data will be backed up.
  • This process involves a large data transfer to the server and can take several hours.
  • During the initial backup, you can temporarily limit bandwidth if needed.

Regular Backups:

  • After the initial backup, only changed data will be backed up, reducing processing time to just a few minutes.
  • Thanks to Nexetic's optimized backup technology, ongoing backups are fast and efficient.
  • Recommended setting: Keep bandwidth set to Unlimited for the best performance.

Alert and Proxy Settings:

Show Alerts:
This setting lets you enable notifications for potential issues, such as failed file backups, full storage space, or other backup-related problems

Proxy Settings:
If required, you can configure settings for a Proxy server to ensure connectivity and compliance with network requirements.
