You will learn how to search and restore / download OneDrive files.
Step 1. Sign into the Microsoft 365 Backup Portal
You have two options to sign into the 365 Backup Portal:
- Sign in via Nexetic Portal: https://portal.nexetic.com
- Sign in directly to 365 Backup Portal: https://shield-cloud.nexetic.com

Step 2. Select OneDrive page
Select OneDrive on the top menu.
Step 3. Select the user
Select the user from the drop-down menu. You can also use search by typing any part of the user's name.
Step 4. Find OneDrive files or folders
You can find OneDrive files and folders in the following ways:
- Input text into the search box; or
- Browse the folder structure and select the correct folder
Step 5. Select restore options
1. Select the correct folder or files you wish to restore.
2. Click on the Restore -> Restore Selected button.
Then choose the settings you need:
3. Target account – The destination OneDrive account. Your own account is selected by default, but you can restore the files to any user account in the same Microsoft 365 tenant.
4. Restore to a custom folder – The folder where the files will be restored. By default, files are restored to their original location. You can type any folder name; if it doesn’t exist in the destination OneDrive, it will be created during the restore.
5. Restore from a past date – The date from which the files will be restored. The current date is pre‑selected, but you can choose any past date to restore the files as they existed on that specific day.
6. With file permissions – Restores item‑level permissions for the selected files and folders.
7. Optional restore justification – Add a short note explaining the reason for the restore, if required by your organization’s policies.
6. Click Restore to initiate the data restore. Please note that the restoration process may take some time. You can follow the progress from the Task Manager.
Option: Download OneDrive files
Alternatively, signed-in users can also download their own files from backup. Currently the download option is available for single files / file versions only.
When you have selected the file, you can see all the existing file versions in the Revisions box on the right. Select the revision you wish to download and click Download. The file is immediately downloaded to your workstation.
Note
You can download only your own files from backup, and only when signed in directly to the Backup Portal. If you access the Backup Portal through Nexetic Vendor Portal, downloading is disabled for both your own files and files of the person you are impersonating. Admins can always restore a user’s files back to their OneDrive in Microsoft 365.
